Tell the fans a little about yourself
I’m Kwan Cheatham, I’m 6’8” 225 pounds, I’m a small forward/power forward from Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati High School, and I play AAU for the Shining Stars.
How long have you been playing basketball and did you play any other sports growing up?
I’ve been playing basketball ever since I was five years old. I played football when I was six and then I stopped around eighth grade because I wanted to focus on one sport during high school. My brother Chris Williams actually plays defensive back for the University of Cincinnati.
What’s your game like?
Offensively, most of the time I’m on the perimeter but if I have a smaller man I like to take him in the post and overpower him.
Defensively I’m a shot blocker, you know I’m 6’8” so I like to play big and block shots but I can step out and guard a guard if I have to. I’m also a pretty good rebounder. Last year I averaged around eight or nine rebounds.
What are your biggest strengths?
Offensively my biggest strength is shooting and I can shoot threes and anything in from threes. On defense my biggest strength is probably my shot blocking.
What are you trying to improve on this off-season?
Since I’m probably a 3 or 4 (small forward or power forward) I’m working on my ball handling, foot speed and I am working on a mid-range pull up shot on offense.
Congratulations on being offered by Kennesaw State. Have you visited yet?
Thank you. I haven’t visited yet, but he (one of the coaches) is planning on coming to my house on September 13th so I’ll have a talk then and I’ll probably visit some time after that.
What are your thoughts on KSU so far from what you know?
From what I know so far, I really really like the school. They have a good head coach, I know that he’s going to be there for some years and it’s probably an up and coming program and I can come there and help bring the program up even more.
What other schools are you looking at right now? Have any favorites?
Right now I don’t have any favorites but I have three other offers from Akron, Bowling Green and Kent State.
Being from Ohio, what are your thoughts on LeBron?
I think the way he left was bad, but he won a championship and he got what he wanted so I can’t blame him for that.
Thank you for your time Kwan.
