Update 11/16/12: Jones signed his NLI and barring unforeseen circumstances will be an Owl next season. Here is a video from KSUOwls.com of Coach Preston talking about what Jones can bring to the table (or the court!).
After being offered by Kennesaw State in late September, forward Jordan Jones has chosen KSU as his destination for 2013. The 6’8″ 200 pound Jones averaged 11 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks per game as a junior at Furtah Prep before transferring to St. Francis in Alpharetta where he will play out his final season. Due to his excellent performances throughout last season he was named 1st Team GISA All-Region.
Jones may have been under recruited because Furtah Prep is a small school that didn’t get the most exposure. He will likely play both forward positions next season. He is very skilled for his size, can put the ball on the floor and shoot it as well.
Jones has a 33 inch vertical jump, a 210 pound max bench press and a 6’9″ (82 inch) wingspan.
Jones is the second commitment for the 2013 class with power forward Nate Rucker committing on Tuesday. He had received other offers from Gardner-Webb, Lafayette and Atlantic Sun conference rival Jacksonville. He reportedly received interest from Rider, East Carolina, Presbyterian, Furman, South Carolina Upstate, UC Irvine, Binghamton, Miami of Ohio and Boston University. The Owls currently have one open scholarship for 2013 remaining.
Unfortunately there isn’t any substantive video of Jones online at the moment but we will keep our eyes open.Follow @KSUOwlHowl
