Per Alex Kline on Twitter, KSU has extended an offer to class of 2014 point guard Tre Campbell. Campbell, 6’1″, is a slightly built but very quick point guard from St. John’s College High School. According to HoopGroup.com, “He keeps his head up and is always scanning the floor for open teammates. He has a smooth release and good rotation on his shot. Campbell did a good job of orchestrating his team from the guard position.”
Campbell became the sixth 2014 guard to be offered by KSU; he was preceded by Grant Benzinger, Jarvis Calhoun, Kendall Crute, Devin Mitchell and Tyler Williams. Campbell has other offers from the A-10’s George Washington Colonials and the CAA’s Towson Tigers; he also has Cincinnati, Georgetown, Notre Dame and Virginia showing interest.
Nate Schmidt on Twitter claims that KSU has offered the class of 2014’s 6’5″ 185 small forward Javon Bess from Lincoln High School in Columbus Ohio. TripleDoubleProspects.com says “(Bess is) a point forward who is long, athletic, and constantly making plays with his high motor. “JB” can handle the ball against pressure in the full-court, attack the rim in the half-court, pass, score inside, and shoot the ball when he has time to set his feet. (He is a) Truly versatile offensive player who is probably even better on the defensive end. Good feet, long arms, and anticipation skills allow him to lock down multiple spots.”
Bess is the second pure forward to be offered by KSU for the class of 2014, with Marietta’s own Grant Bryant being the first.
Corey Albertson on Twitter says that Cincinnati Ohio power forward Kwan Cheatham has been offered by KSU. Cheatham is a 6’8″ 200 pound power forward from Winton Woods High Schools’ class of 2013. TripleDoubleProspects.com on Cheatham: “Scoring minded inside-outside wing that likes to shoot the three pointer. Long armed wing with solid athleticism that could be poised for a breakout season. Bottom Line: Has the potential to have a very good season, college coaches will have him on their radar with his shooting ability and size.”
Cheatham received his first offer on June 30th from Akron. Others schools who have shown interest: Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, Kent St., Northeastern, Oakland, Toledo and Xavier.
Kennesaw State has also recently shown interest in 2014 small forward Jordan Abdur-Ra’oof per @Edgar_Walker on Twitter. Abdur-Ra’oof is a lanky player out of the Washington D.C area. More information on Abdur-Ra’oof can be found in our 2014 On the Radar section.Follow @KSUOwlHowl
